There is absolutely no doubt that I am a daddy's girl (and proud of it). We spend almost every Saturday together whether we're shopping, cleaning, kayaking, watching movies, or running errands. Since at least 6th grade we've driven to work/school together with my dad sipping coffee and me endlessly singing. For the past two years I've been at every event that his school has held both helping as well as watching my dad do the job he loves. Whenever there is something that my dad needs help with (or even if he doesn't need all that much help) he comes to me. I've learned so much from him and have so many great memories of our "daddy daughter dates".
Unfortunatly those days are no more. Now that I have to be responsible and go off to college, I also have to give up living in the same house as my parents which means I'm not around my dad all the time.
At 4:30 am I helped my dad put his suitcase in our truck and I drove him to the airport. Rather than walk with him inside and to the security gate we decided it would be easier (on both of us) to just drop him off at the door. After a long hug and some great advice, I got in my truck and (after making sure I was safely on my way) my dad headed inside to fly back overseas.

Aside from having a wonderful man like my dad in my life, I have also been lucky to have my amazing boyfriend. We dated throughout senior year but at the end of the school year we knew we were going opposite directions. However, rather than give up, we decided to try long distance. For a month we were separated, living on skype calls and iMessaging. Luckily though, on his way to college he was able to stop by and visit me (our crazy adventures can be found here). Unlike my dad, my boyfriend had a late night flight. At 8:00 pm we left my house and headed towards the airport. Also unlike with my dad, we decided I should come inside and walk with him to the security gate. After a series of long hugs and a lot of saying "I'll miss you" I pushed him towards the security line and stood on the side, waiting. When it finally came his turn, he handed the security guy his boarding pass and passport and joined the line of people waiting to get their bags screened. Finally, I blew him a kiss, turned around, and walked out of the airport.
There's no doubt it was a sad few days of saying good-bye to two of the most important men in my life. Luckily I still have my mom and my friends around until I head off to college in the fall.
