After almost exactly a month apart, living on skype calls and long text messages, I finally got to pick my boyfriend up from the airport! His flight came in about 30 minutes late (but oh well, at least he got here) and I completely missed him at the gate and had to find him at the baggage claim area. Of course I immediately took him to eat (and ate more than him) before heading home for the evening.
Bright and early the next morning we left the apartment and went to get Nike gear (my favorite!!) with our 30% off coupons. After spending the morning/afternoon shopping, we decided to end it with dinner at Gustavs and went to see 22 Jump Street which was a pretty inappropriate, but funny movie.
Friday we spent the day shopping for "back to school clothes" and promise rings :D Our evening on the other hand was spent less seriously with some friends: a trip to the amusement park, an adventure to a delicious burger place, and an amazing (amazing because of a Nintendo 64) evening at our friend's house.
Saturday we had to be separated for a bit while I attended my cousin's "pre-bachelorette party". We spent the rest of the day running into friends at the summer celebration and then hanging out in front of a warm bonfire.
Sunday we made the trek towards the gorge area, traveling along the Historic Highway and stopping as we pleased (photos can be found here). After admiring some gorgeous waterfalls, doing some minor rock climbing, and enduring the freezing cold water that is famous in the Northwest, we headed home.
Although it wasn't under the best circumstances (my dad needed to visit a doctor for some minor things) on Monday we got to visit both Eugene and Corvallis. We went and saw the movie Lucy which was pretty good, although not quite what I expected, and we ate lunch at BJ's (which I haven't been to since I was a kid). After Eugene we walked around the OSU campus a bit and I showed him some cool areas.
After our lazy day on Tuesday, we decided to go and be active on Wednesday. We spent the afternoon and early evening up at Ski Bowl doing various things: mountain biking, alpine sliding, mini-golfing, go-carting, and batting. For dinner we decided to celebrate our birthdays (since they're a month and two days apart) at the Old Spaghetti Factory where we got a candle in our ice cream and a song sung to us.
Even though it took us a while to actually get up on Thursday, we still started the day off with action. After about two hours, some sore forearms, and roughened hands we finally ended our rock climbing and bouldering adventure. (I reached the top of the 50' rock wall five times on varying difficulties). After a delicious lunch where we made our own pizza (chicken, green peppers, onions, bbq sauce, olive oil, parmesan cheese, bacon, and garlic). Next came the hard labor time: we spent about an hour and a half cleaning out the storage unit.
Friday morning/early afternoon Cory got to meet more people: my aunt and cousins on my dad's side. After having brunch we headed out to the beach for the weekend. From Friday afternoon until Sunday evening we hung out at the beach helping out with the wedding (which was gorgeous), riding bikes on the beach, making a sand house, walking along the beach, browsing the stores, and eating delicious food.
Monday morning we were back home and staying busy as always just running some errands. At the end of the day we decided to head down to Wilsonvile where we had delicious Red Robin chicken burgers with my friend and her boyfriend.
Tuesday morning we decided to go back to the Gorge area and go on a hike up to Angel's Rest. Even though the hike up was ridiculously long (it was actually only 2.3 miles up) the view at the top was totally worth it. (Check them out here) Unfortunately, I rolled my ankle on the way down and scraped the crap out of my knee :P Still worth it though. After the hike we decided to go to the Westside Inn (an amazing drive-thru burger place) and get burgers and shakes. We decided to end our day with a trip to Oneonta Falls. On our way back from the falls as we were climbing over the log jam we discovered that a woman had fallen and gotten stuck. An hour later, EMT's were taking the woman and thanking us for all our help. But the adventure didn't stop there, we finished the night with some good old fashion German food.
Wednesday finally came around (the day he had to leave) and we decided to visit downtown Portland. Much to our surprise, when we arrived at Voodoo donughts there was absolutely no line; it was awesome!! After we scarfed down our Maple Blazer Blunts, Dirty Old Bastards, and Bacon Maple Bars we made our way towards Powell's book store where we hung out for about an hour and a half.
