When I was going into my Sophomore year of high school my parents wanted to take a big road trip. We went into Washington, Montana, Idaho, Utah, Nevada, and California. We spent time in Yellowstone and Disneyland and Santa Monica. It was a spectacular trip; gorgeous sights and great people. The only killer was how expensive gas was at the time...I remember filling the truck for $130.
Struggles of a college kid: when you don't have a bottle opener and neither do any of your neighbors. Instead, we engineered the hell out of it by drilling a screw into the cork, and using pliers to pull the screw (and the cork) out. That's engineering for you!
On a different note from the last post; it's an amazing feeling to be at a busy OSU game. There's nothing like the feeling of being in an arena with 9,500 other people. To have it broadcast that this is the largest turnout for a PAC-12 basketball game. Best Civil War I've been to, even if we lost.
Who loves Jenga? Well Jenga is even better when you play with engineers who have created a life-size Jenga game. When stacked regularly the Jenga pile was nearly as tall as me (a little over 5'). If that's not intense, I don't know what is.
Physics is awesome enough as is, but it gets even better when you get to go on a field trip to a pilot training facility and see what you have to go through as a pilot. A few of us even got to use the simulator and "land" a plane.
Benefits of living on a military base!
My senior year I was at Kadena Air Force base and got to take a cool senior photo with a military helicopter. We had our big "class picture" with three planes behind us (the one in this picture is one of the three). After the group picture was done, my boyfriend's father told us and a friend to climb up on the helicopter and take a picture. I somehow managed to do this in heels without falling on my face and now have a pretty epic photo from my senior year. |
